Mayfields ‘Murky Plan’ – how close are you?
The new area being targeted by this unscrupulous company has just been published in detail – how close are you?
The area now covered by Mayfield Market Towns (MMT) proposal for a new settlement has been published in Horsham District Council’s (HDC) most recent SHELAA (Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment):
“A development of up to 6,120 dwellings together with associated infrastructure is currently being proposed for consideration. The site falls in Woodmancote, Shermanbury and Henfield parish areas.”
Contrary to what some have been led to believe MMT do not have control of some large swathes of land covered by the highlighted area. Principled people who own this land have repeatedly resisted, often unethical, and distressing approaches by MMT or its agents.
Crucially HDC do not see it as “currently developable” or required with their current housing need satisfied for the duration of the plan period.
Yet Lambs remain aware that the SHELAA is only a form of evidence base used to inform HDPF (Horsham District Planning Framework) – it does not set policy or allocate sites for development. Together with the fact a planning performance agreement (PPA) is already in place between HDC and MMT and with an expected increase in the district’s housing need resulting from the Government’s new and dubious methods of calculation, this is no time to take our eyes of the ball!
If you think you will be affected by the proposals or you live in or near the highlighted area and have any concerns please get in touch.
