Donate today and help us to STOP Mayfield Market Towns building 10,000 new homes on the Sussex Weald.
The Low Weald is the gently rolling expanse of meadows, woodlands and streams which make up ‘the view’ from the top of the Downs. These lush, green lowlands are also a perfect mix of wildlife habitats, supporting a huge variety of native species – many of which are now endangered.
Mayfield Market Towns wants to build a vast new town of 10,000 houses at the very heart of this unspoiled area on open countryside just a mile north-east of Henfield. This London property company has now announced it will be applying for planning permission for its 1200 acre development in early 2016.
The proposal defies logic – there is no rail link, no local support, no major roads and the site is at the top of a flood plain.
However Mayfields has been aggressively lobbying all the District Councils in this area of Sussex with a view to having this scheme included in local plans later this year.
LAMBS has pledged to fight these proposals – but we need your help!
We need a strong fighting fund of at least £57,000, to employ top class professionals who will be a match for those employed by Mayfield – barristers, planning consultants and environmental consultants.
Please help us before it is too late!
